5 things to expect in tonight’s games
1. Denver Nuggets vs. Boston Celtics
The Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics are 8-3 in tonight’s game. They are each on a four-game winning streak. Ish Smith (calf) is out tonight for the Nuggets. Denver is currently third in the Northwest Division. Bones Highlander has value for the Nuggets this season. He’s scoring 14.0 points per game off the bench.
The Celtics will be without Malcolm Brogdon (home strong) in tonight’s game. He is the third leading scorer per game behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They need players like Derrick White and Grant Williams to step up and contribute on offense.
2. Detroit Pistons vs. New York Knicks
The Detroit Pistons are just 3-9 to start the season and have lost four of their last six games. Tonight, both Alec Burks (foot) and Marvin Bagley III (knee) are listed as questionable. Detroit is the last place in the Central Division. Cade Cunningham leads the Pistons in points per game (19.9).
New York is 5-6 this season, one game under .500. Their last game was a 112-85 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks are 2-2 in their last four games. Julius Randle is off to an impressive start behind the arc for the Knicks. He is hitting 36 percent of his three-pointers so far this season. His career three-point percentage is 33. Randle has seven or more attempts in each of his last three games. The Knicks are third in the Atlantic Division.

3. Toronto Raptors at Oklahoma City Thunder
The Toronto Raptors have a 7-5 record and are in second place in the Atlantic Division. They are 3-2 in their last five games, led by Pascal Siakam. He is averaging (24.8 points), (9.3 rebounds) and (7.7) assists per game. They are all leading the team. Toronto has five players averaging at least 14.2 points per game. Kem Birch (knee) is out for tonight’s game.
Oklahoma City will be desperate for a win after losing four games in a row. The team is 4-7 and will be without Darius Bazley (ankle) for today’s game. Their young, but up-and-coming superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leads the team in points (31.6), assists (5.6), steals (1.9) and blocks (1.5) per game. He was recently in business talks. Another team would have to trade a big package deal to try and get him.
4. Milwaukee Bucks vs San Antonio Spurs
Milwaukee now has the best record in the East at 10-1 and is in first place in the Central Division. Tonight, the Bucks are without Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday for the game. The Bucks don’t play again until Monday and coach Budenholzer will be giving his star players a much-needed rest. Look for their sixth man Bobby Portis Jr. to have a big impact on the game.
The Spurs started the season an impressive 5-2 and have lost five straight since. Most recently they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in the OT, 124-122. Now with Dejounte Murray in Atlanta, Keldon Johnson has become the Spurs’ leading scorer. He is averaging (23.1) points per game.

5. Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors
The Cleveland Cavaliers wrap up their three-game west coast road trip tonight against the Golden State Warriors. Since starting 8-1, the Cavs have lost two straight. Cleveland has six players on the team averaging double-digit points this season. Donovan Mitchell is leading the team in points per game (31.9) this season.
It was a slow start to the season for the Warriors after winning the NBA Finals last season. The team is currently 4-7 and in fourth place in the Pacific Division. Golden State had a five-game losing streak this season. Donte DiVincenzo could play tonight for the Warriors.
