The season of the Brooklyn Nets took a turn for the better when Jacques Vaughn became the head coach and the team continued to thrive under his leadership. His team went 18-2 in its last 20 games, but lost Kevin Durant for almost a month after suffering an MCL injury in the last game against the Heat. As the trade deadline nears, NBA insiders say the Nets will be active and aggressive around that time.
We saw the Nets do this last season when they made a last-second blockbuster trade at the eleventh hour, sending GM Mark James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers to ship Ben Simmons, Seth Curry and two future first-round picks.
New York sports betting sites have the Nets at (+800) to win the Finals this season. With Kevin Durant out, Brooklyn has some upside on the roster.

NBA insiders say the Brooklyn Nets will be active at the trade deadline in February
It’s a seller’s market in the NBA right now and teams are relatively quiet. Once the deadline approaches, many teams try to make moves to improve their roster or acquire future assets through picks. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski had this to say about what he thinks the networks will do on February 9th.
“I think Brooklyn will be active. I think they will improve, especially in the front court. – Adrian Wojnarowski
Brooklyn’s low and presence on the glass has been one glaring weakness this season. They are missing a frontcourt presence to take care of the rebuild. Also, they need this player to be able to guard the center of the other teams. Nick Claxton has a unique build and was very effective for the Nets, but he lacks the muscle and strength to stop players like Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Wojnarowski also indicated that TJ Warren Durant will be out for a month in an additional role for the Nets. As the trade deadline approaches and they await the return of Kevin Durant, the Nets will continue to evaluate their roster in the next few weeks. This is an opportune time for players to step up and make a big impact.
