He spoke to legendary announcer Bob Arum. FightHype And let him know where he stands on the Errol Spence-Terence Crawford fallout, which has disappointed – if not all – boxing fans. The two welterweight kingpins, both undefeated, were expected to fall before 2023. Suffice it to say, the fight isn’t happening — at least not anytime soon. Arum said of the deal: “It was just difficult for me, because PBC[Premier Boxing Champions]did a good job promoting Errol Spence, and Terence Crawford was left without an active promoter, and it became difficult for (PBC) honcho) Al Haymon to make that fight. .
Crawford was promoted at one point by Arum, which he argued was the reason his fight with Spence didn’t work out. “What could have happened if the fight had been done earlier, and if we had promoted Crawford, we would have sat down with Al the way we did with Pacquiao-Mayweather and the way we did Wilder-Fury and we’re doing it,” Arum said. On top of that, the nitty gritty promotional deals that have to be done to fight. I don’t blame Al, I don’t blame Errol Spence, I don’t blame Terence. It was very difficult if one had a promoter and the other didn’t.
Arum, who some feel Crawford slighted when introducing him, made it clear Fighting the hype He felt that no one was particularly to blame in this case. “It was not an effective way for the two sides to negotiate,” he said. He[Crawford]was really left in limbo without a promoter, so it became difficult for Al to get both fighters on the same card, the same way, and so the fight fell apart. Arum went on to say that the fight could be with or without support from Top Rank, the promotional outfit he manages and that Crawford was once a part of. “There is no one to blame,” he said. “Terence chose not to continue his relationship with the top tier, and if he went with another major promoter who was trying to sit down with Al and make the fight, maybe it would have.”
And where does Arum feel things go from here?
“Spence and Crawford will happily go their separate ways, and maybe after the fight is sold, they’ll get together and do that fight like Mayweather and Pacquiao did back and forth.
