Canelo Alvarez says he is doing well after undergoing successful surgery on his left hand. Not only that, he wants to return to the ring in the spring of 2023. “In the beginning,” Canelo said. bet365, “The doctor told me that I would have to spend four weeks with the cast immobilized after the operation. When he came in and saw everything I had and what he had done to me, he said, “It’s more than we expected. It should only be seven days with the cast, then take out the stitches and start the rehabilitation.” It’s been two weeks now.”
Never lacking in confidence, Canelo doesn’t seem to see any reason why he can’t fight in the spring. “My scar is already closed,” he says. “I’m doing well with treatment, so I don’t think it’s going to stop me that much… I always fight in May or September. I think I will prepare again for May. ” The 58-2-2 superstar last saw action when he defeated longtime rival Gennady Golovkin a few weeks ago. Before that, however, Canelo suffered a dramatic loss to Dimitri Bivol last spring in his attempt to win Russia’s WBA light heavyweight title.
“It was very difficult, because no one is ready to lose, but I saw the struggle,” says the red-haired star. My arm, my shoulder, I did well in the first half of the fight, then the load came to me, because we didn’t train as well as we should, especially when you have to carry more. They have more weight. Naturally for someone like himself, Canelo is eager to get Bivol back in the ring. “We want revenge,” he says. “I tried to make history in another division and lost. Complex. To me, he’s number one in the 175-pound division.” And if Bivol isn’t interested in a rematch?
“If he doesn’t want to fight, there’s a lot to do,” Canelo said. Whatever one says about Canelo, there is no doubt that he has been willing to challenge himself time and time again over the years. Perhaps the winner of the upcoming Caleb Plant-David Benavidez fight will bring a good opponent. Or maybe he’ll face Bivol again.
