While promoting his new adult beverage VMC, Canelo Alvarez was asked about – you guessed it – boxing. The red-haired star recently clarified that the surgery on his wrist went well and he hopes to return to the ring in the first half of 2023. FightHype I’ll start hitting the bags in January to see how it feels. If all goes well, Canelo will want to face WBA light heavyweight titleholder Dimitri Bivol, the man he beat last spring in Las Vegas.
“I’ll be back in May, just to see how the hand feels, and the rematch against Bivol. Canelo’s last appearance was in the ring in September when he defeated his opponent Gennady Golovkin in a comfortable manner. That being said, some would be surprised if the biggest star in the sport of boxing hasn’t started to slip a little from his throne as perhaps the best pound for pound fighter on earth. Still, Canelo is determined. “It’s the only thing I want in my career right now,” he said of his second match against Bivol.
However, Bivol wasn’t the only Canelo opponent the assembled media was curious about. Canelo was asked if he would fight super middleweight Caleb Plant again after defeating the American in last year’s super middleweight championship bout. “Let’s see what happens in that fight,” Canelo said of Plant’s upcoming fight, referring to his heavy hitting against David Benavidez. “Honestly, it’s a rivalry, but for me, I think Benavidez will win.”
Canelo talked about his small part in the upcoming movie Faith 3, As well as his love for the game of golf. However, the famous fighter mentioned his work for those in need. “I get messages from people on social (media) that help,” he said. “I got up and looked and told my cousin Omar to check to see if it was legal and that’s what happened. That’s how it happens.
According to the new drink, VMC means “Viva Mexico Cabrones”, which Canelo likes to shout in the ring after a victory. If he makes a successful comeback next year, fans may hear the man say these words more than once.
