There is a pretty high profile matchup across the pond this weekend as 32-2-0 Chris Eubank takes on 32-3-1 Liam Smith in a 12 round middleweight affair. Things got a little out of control between the two men at the last press conference held yesterday; This was seen as the wrestlers insulted and insulted each other; This went too far and caused misunderstandings among the youth. Character aside, this still has a quality fight between two veterans determined to make their mark on the fight game. The game will be played at the Manchester Arena in England and will be broadcast live here in the States on the DAZN streaming service.
Eubank, 33, has built an impressive record for himself over the years. In fact, two of his losses came against notable opponents — Billy Joe Sanders and George Groves, respectively. Moreover, the man has not lost a fight since 2018. Eubank is currently riding a 6 fight win streak. Like Eubank, Smith has an impressive history of his own. Also like Eubank, Smith’s few losses have come at the hands of notable opponents: Magomed Kurbonov, Jaime Munguia, and the one and only Canelo Alvarez. Smith became a world title holder by holding the WBO junior middleweight title – which was taken by Canelo with a 9th round knockout. Now 34, Smith is on a 3-fight winning streak, having seen action against Hassan Mwakinyo, who stopped him in the 4th round last September. Smith, nicknamed “Biffy”, is the brother of former world title holder Callum Smith, as well as retired fighters Paul and Stephen.
As for Thursday’s press conference, the British Boxing Board of Control may be involved. In a statement, the organization said: “The British Boxing Board of Control is aware of the comments made by Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr. at yesterday’s press conference and the Board’s management will take the conduct of both boxers directly into consideration. Whether or not one believes Thursday’s stupid and insulting behavior deserves public action, it should be noted that each person has come forward and apologized for their behavior.
