PGA Tour Guides Colin Morikawa and Adam Scott have been added to the TGL Golf League roster of players starting with Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Mike McCarley.
The league consists of six teams, three PGA Tour players, and features team tournaments on a virtual golf course in a tech-enhanced arena. Morikawa and Scott Woods join McIlroy, Justin Thomas and John Rahm as the current lineup of players.
“In my professional and college golf career, I’ve loved team play and the extra energy it brings to my game – especially in match play. That’s only heightened by the opportunities I’ve had to represent the United States at the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, and I’m looking forward to being a part of the TGL team next year,” he said. Morikawa said in a statement. For young fans.”
In partnership with the PGA Tour, the league will begin in January 2024 and play on Monday nights in prime time. It consists of 15 regular season matches followed by semi-finals and finals and is played in front of live spectators in a virtual venue.
Woods, McIlroy and McCarley announced the formation of TMRW Sports in August, which runs the TGL league and worked with the PGA Tour to develop the concept.
As the PGA Tour continues to evolve and adapt new strategies for its players, the TGL League gives the 18 tour players an opportunity to earn extra money while playing just two hours each week.
“I am excited to play a role in the future for golfers and fans as professional golf continues to evolve,” Scott said in a statement. “So I’m excited to compete in TGL and share the stage with my teammates and competitors at the new Palm Beach location.”
