JOHANNESBURG — Dan Bradbury completed a wire-to-wire victory at the Joburg Open on Sunday to win his first European Tour title at Houghton Golf Club.
The Englishman carded a final round 4-under 67, which was more than enough for his nearest competitor, Sami Vallimäki of Finland, who was two more shots behind to finish three behind in total.
Bradbury, who only turned professional in the summer, was playing in only his third tournament on the European Tour.
He started the final round in a flourish, missing an eagle, and added five birdies before dropping a single shot to finish with a 21-under 263 with his only bogey of the day.
Bradbury’s first win also secured a spot at the British Open.
Two other South Africans — Christian Bezuidenhout (66) and Daniel van Tonder (68) — finished another ball third.
The Joburg Open is the first tournament of the 2023 European Tour season, with two more events in South Africa in December.
