Formula 2 champion and Aston Martin junior driver Felipe Drugovic has said he wants to compete in any series beyond F2 in 2023.
FIA rules prohibit Drugovich from competing in F2 as champion until 2023. He has been signed by Aston Martin to be the first driver in their new driver development program and will run a test program in 2023 and participate in several races with the team.
Dragovic has not confirmed any competitive plans for next season. But he is only interested in categories beyond F2, such as hypercars racing in the World Endurance Championship.
“Hopefully I can do something professionally,” Dragovic said. “Also, something that doesn’t clash too much with Formula 1. So it should be a program that doesn’t take too many days out of my year.
“Anything more than Formula 2, I’ll look at it. So it could be hypercar or super formula or whatever. I still don’t know what it is.”
Maloney was named FIA Rookie of the Year
Zane Maloney has been awarded the 2022 FIA Rookie of the Year. Maloney, who finished second in the category in his first year in this year’s FIA Formula 3 Championship, received the annual award given to the top rookie in any FIA-sanctioned series. Yesterday’s FIA Awards Gala.
The 19-year-old has three race wins, two poles and four podiums in the 2022 season. He has also been given the opportunity to race the final round of the Formula 2 season in Abu Dhabi against Trident.
