20-1 junior middleweight Evan Golub fought 15-3 Wesley Tucker in 10 rounds Tuesday night. Box Insider’s A “Newbies” card dropped off at Sony Hall in Times Square. The first round was an emotional process for each fighter. Golub fires off a one-two on the back of a second southpaw jab. Later in the chapter, however, Golub quickly found himself on the mat. The Brooklyn-based fighter got back to his feet, but this was an eyebrow-raising moment.
Despite winning the ball, Golub was able to continue to land on Tucker at third. But Taker showed that he has the power to touch his taller foe. Golub stayed behind the high guard, showing Tucker on Tucker for most of the fourth. Was he hoping to employ the “rope dope” technique? Apparently not, because the fight was stopped between rounds in Golub’s favor – in Taker’s corner.
