Ferrari have announced the resignation of team principal Mattia Binotto following a disappointing 2022 season.
He said the team has started the process to decide on his replacement and will announce who will take over from Binotto in the new year.
“It is with deep regret that I have decided to end my association with Ferrari,” Binotto said in a statement issued by Ferrari.
“I am leaving the company I love, of which I have been a member for 28 years, with a sense of certainty [sic] I have made every effort to achieve the set goals.
“I leave a united and growing team. A strong team, ready, confident, to achieve high goals, I wish you all the best for the future.”

The team was heavily criticized by fans and commentators in the motorsport media following a catalog of operational errors with the team during the season, ranging from reliability issues, driver errors by drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr., poor strategy calls and pit issues. It stops.
“I think as difficult as this decision is for me, I think it’s the right thing to do at this time,” Binto said. I would like to thank everyone who has shared with me this challenging but very satisfying journey at Gestin Sportiva.
Just two weeks ago, Ferrari dismissed reports in the Italian media about Binotto’s future at the team that Alfa Romeo team principal Frederic Vasseur was set to replace him as team principal as “absolutely baseless”. Speaking ahead of last weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Binotto said he discussed the reports with Elkann before issuing his statement.
