FIA politics “difficult subject” – Hulkenberg
In the year Hulkenberg, who will drive for Haas in the 2023 F1 season, told RTL that the FIA’s latest decision was “a serious, serious subject” but that “there was no one who would not use this platform for political news”.
He said the new restrictions in the FIA’s International Sporting Code will not affect or damage him as much, but they might for others. “I think it’s a personal story,” he added. “Everybody has a personal opinion on it.”
“Labrador” Leclerc is overrated compared to Science-Coronel
Touring car driver Tom Coronel believes Carlos Sainz Jnr is underrated compared to team-mate Charles Leclerc, who finished second in the world championship.
Coronel told Formula 1 magazine: “I was disappointed when Leclerc went so well at the start of the year that everyone was shouting ‘he’s a championship candidate’.” But personally, I’m rooting for his teammate Carlos Sainz, who has had a lot of bad luck.
“People pretend Sainz is the second driver at Ferrari, but look at the result: Sainz was the frontrunner in 2021. Leclerc got a lot of credit for me compared to Sainz.”
Coronel admits that Leclerc was too hesitant to ask for better from the Ferrari team as they chased him through the season: “He’s a good son-in-law, a Labrador.
Andretti develops high-end sports cars
As they continue to work their way into F1, Andretti Autosport have now found another avenue into high-level racing by taking an ownership stake in sports car team Wayne Taylor Racing.
WTR is one of the top prototype teams in IMSA, America’s answer to the World Endurance Championship, and the series where Andretti already competes in the third-tier LMP3 class. They will continue to compete at the highest level in LMP3 and GTP.
Andretti also has teams that compete – often with other teams – in Extreme E, Formula E, IndyCar and Australian Supercars (high-level series of off-road racing, single-seaters and stock cars).
