A golden boy fight night card on Thursday in Fantasy Springs in Indio, California. The main event of the DAZN broadcast is a scheduled 8-round lightweight affair between 11-0 Floyd Schofield and 22-5-1 Daniel Rosas. Junior heavyweight Joshua Garcia 5-0 and Christian Lorenzo 3-3 fought first but in the scheduled 4 rounds. Garcia started well the first time, giving the man a different look and landing a good left. Garcia continued to work hard in the second. To his credit, Lorenzo pushed forward in third and even landed well. Lorenzo continued to move into the fourth man, although Garcia was able to land well and maintain range at times. The jury ruled unanimously for Garcia.
Next, 32-5 Annabelle Ortiz squared off against 10-1 Maria Santizo in a scheduled 8-round junior bantamweight bout. Ortiz began to aggressively pursue Santizo with her jab. The second saw Ortiz continue to successfully land her jab as well as use an overhand right. In the third, Santizo showed better results using speed and footwork. Still, Ortiz continued to fight hard in the fourth. In the fifth season, Santizo spent her time. Things were fairly close in the sixth, but the seventh proved to be a high-octane affair. The eighth and final round was action-oriented and intense. Ortiz left the ring with a unanimous decision victory added to her resume.
It was time for the main event. Schofield immediately went to the body. Then he quickly started working to the top after a while. More onslaught followed, then, halfway through the round, Rosa went down and out, courtesy of the powerful Schofield. “It’s all about how you win,” famous former Moutley titlist Bernard Hopkins said from ringside. Scofield really won in great quick fashion.
