The FIA has announced the 2023 calendars for the next 2 and Formula 3 championships, including a number of major changes for the upcoming season.
F2 will remain at 14 rounds after extending the 2022 schedule. The dropping of the French Grand Prix from the Formula 1 schedule means F2 will not be contested by Paul Ricard. But he will make up for that loss by hosting the Australian Grand Prix for the first time at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit.
The trip down is one of three rounds in March, with the season kicking off in Bahrain on the first weekend of the month. Two weeks later, the series races at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, then heads to Australia two weeks later.
There’s a month off before we go to Baku (28-30 April), then the F1 series at all European events over the next five months at Imola, Monaco, Barcelona, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Hangarring, Spa-Francorchamps, Zandvoort and Monza. After the second Tour of Italy, drivers have just over two-and-a-half months before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’s support season finale on November 24-26.
FIA F3 will follow a similar schedule, starting in Bahrain but skipping Jeddah before joining F2 in Australia. It will then be the mainstay of the European leg of the F1 calendar.
On May 25-28 he will visit the streets of Monaco for the first time, but the swelling of the calendar to avoid me to 11 rounds, the series has canceled the trip to Zandvoort after two years of competing there.
The F3 season ends at Monza, giving drivers the chance to step up to F2 for the final event of the season. Both series are expected to receive funding from Formula Motorsport Limited, the company behind the two championships, to ship and transport the cars to Australia.
