In a scheduled pay-per-view with Hector Luis Garcia for January 7, Florida multi-talent Gervonta Davis was arrested on Tuesday for domestic assault. According to multiple reports, Davis was taken to the Broward County Parkland District for booking. Davis, 29, allegedly hit a woman and injured her. As of press time, the undefeated fighter remains in jail despite posting a $1,000 bond. Per Fox 5 NewsThe police report alleges that at 1:25 p.m., Davis intentionally hit the victim when she did not want to, causing her bodily harm.
This is not the first time Davis has found himself in legal trouble for allegedly assaulting a woman. In the year In February 2020, the Baltimore native was charged with domestic violence after he was caught on video at a charity basketball game in Coral Gables, Florida with the child’s mother. The case was finally dismissed earlier this month. On top of his recent legal woes, Davis is set to appear in court in Baltimore on Feb. 16 for the alleged hit-and-run incident. Charges have been filed against the militant in the case.
It remains to be seen whether the Davis-Garcia fight scheduled to go down this coming weekend at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC will still go ahead as planned. Despite being the main event of the pay-per-view, the bout is seen as a tune-up for Davis, who is expected to face Ryan Garcia in a legitimate superfight this year.
