Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is growing frustrated with the front office. The third-year player and last season’s Sixth Man of the Year is awaiting a contract extension.
During NBA Media Week, the 22-year-old was asked about contract negotiations between him and the Heat at FTX Arena. “I was active at the beginning of the summer,” Hero told reporters.
“And then I realized it wouldn’t be done, if it was done, until later. So I told my agent to call me when he was ready. So we didn’t talk much about the contract.

“I’ll tell him to call me when he’s really ready,” Hero continued. “If it’s not ready, I’ll keep playing my game and help out next summer.”
On September 3, 2021, Hero’s $5,722,116 team option for the 2022-23 season became effective. This is part of the rookie balance contract he signed with the Heat in 2019.

If Tyler Hero continues to exceed expectations with the Heat, he should earn All-NBA honors in 2023. Fans could argue that Hero is just as valuable to the Heat as Jimmy Butler. Playoff contenders need bench depth.
