An interview with former MMA great Anderson Silva has the Arizona Boxing Commission trying to figure out whether or not the 47-year-old should face Jake Paul on Saturday night in Glendale. Although Silva claimed he was joking, the UFC legend said in an interview that he was hit twice in training. Fighters talk a lot when they promote a match, and this is one fight that few people think Jake Paul can win, given that Silva not only has a boxing background, but actually boxed professionally years ago.
Still, it is the commission’s job to look into such matters. MMAFighting He reported that an emergency meeting had been called for Thursday night. If the Paul-Silva fight falls through or is postponed, it will be the third time in as many months that Paul has lost an opponent. Last summer, both Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr. were going to face Paul at Madison Square Garden. Fourie had the problem of getting to America (which some didn’t do much to solve) and Rahman Jr. said he couldn’t make his weight in the end. Silva, a lifelong professional, is a different story entirely as he clearly wants to fight on Saturday.
