Although the priests scoffed at it, it was one of the greatest battles of 2022. Anderson Silva, a former UFC great and impressive – if not aging – boxer who has faced none other than Jake Paul himself, is a social media influencer turned serious fighter with Thunder. fist The crowd in Glendale, Arizona was loud and boisterous as the two men entered the ring. But the time for preemptive combat is over.
The first of the scheduled eight rounds was Paul landing good body shots as Silva watched patiently. The second saw a more aggressive Silva, although Paul again landed some hard shots. The third one gets Silva tagged in a bit by Paul, but he’s still doing a good job of wearing the man down. The question seems to be whether the legendary Brazilian fighter can mentally break his young American foe. Although Silva had his moments, Paul landed well on Silva in the fourth. The 47-year-old fighter still had it — though not as clearly as when he was younger.
Silva fired up and landed some very nice uppercuts in the fifth. He puts Paul in the corner at the end of the round and he does a good job. Silva did little better until Paul’s sixth possession was a sloppy fest until the end. But who won the round? The Showtime Broadcasting team was right to say that it was a tough fight to score. Paul landed well in the seventh, while Silva seemed to lack the energy he was known for in his youth. Silva went up at the bell like a pit bull in the eighth and final round. Unfortunately, the fighter called “Spider” put Paul on the mat. Silva gracefully got to his feet, but it was too little, too late. Turns out, the man was too old to do as much as he wanted. Paul walks out of the ring to a unanimous vote on the ring.
Paul then said, “It is time he was found.” “Hard work pays off.” Paul had nothing but great things to say about his opponent. “He was my idol growing up,” Paul says fondly of Silva. “He inspired me to be great… I have nothing but respect for him. Paul then reverted to his popular attitude by calling out Nate Diaz and Canelo Alvarez. As for Silva, he was nothing but good natured in defeat. “That’s the game,” he said. “Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I thank God for giving me this opportunity.”
