The Memphis Grizzlies are 10-7 this season and 1-3 in their last four games. Grizzlies All-Star PG Jay Morant suffered a sprain in his left ankle during his team’s win over the Thunder on Friday night. Now, he’s listed as questionable to play tonight and the league seems doubtful that Morant will make a quick return.
Initially, Morant was listed as week-to-week due to the injury suffered Friday night. He recovered faster than anyone expected and is now doubtful to play against the Kings tonight. Just yesterday the Grizzlies listed him as questionable and there seems to be some controversy over Morant coming back too soon.
NBA betting sites have the Grizzlies at (+2000) to win the Finals this season.

Jay Morant is listed as questionable for tonight’s game.
Morant’s return came sooner than anyone expected, and that’s the point. Memphis asked the beat writers how Ja was able to do it, and the answer was unique.
“Cyborg. I’m a special person, man. I don’t think I’m human. I have to do some lab tests or something to see what’s behind it. The league is doing the same. I have a drug test after this.” – Ja Morant
The young superstar was obviously joking with the press, but he’s come back from a season 1 sprain on his left ankle better than anyone thought. That’s probably why the league wanted to give Morant a drug test to make sure he was clean.
The typical recovery time for a 1st grade spray is 3-5 weeks. Morant will be back in 3-5 days if he plays in tonight’s game. Maybe Morant can give him an inaccurate read on the injury, or maybe he’ll heal faster than most players in the league at age 23.
