Jose Pedraza won world titles in two weight divisions. But now the 29-4 fighter will fight for importance when he fights another former world champion, 30-4 Richard Comey, in a scheduled 12-rounder at Tulsa’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
The fight, which airs on ESPN starting at 10:30 a.m. ET, means as much to Comey, 35, as Pedraza, 33. Both men will need a win here if they still want to be memorable fighters. No one has been particularly impressive lately.
Comey’s last fight was a decisive loss to Vasyl Lomachenko late last year, while Pedraza lost to Jose Ramirez last March. Still, this match tonight could be very entertaining if not “important”. There’s nothing worse than watching two greats give it their all on a Saturday night past their top fighters, though.
