For former San Antonio Spurs guard Josh Primo, things are getting worse. After Friday’s release, Primo and the Spurs organization are facing multiple charges of indecent exposure. A criminal complaint has also been filed against Primo.
The lawsuit was filed by Dr. Hilary Cowton with attorney Tony Boothby representing him. Primo alleges that he exposed himself to her on nine different occasions. Cowton previously served as the team’s psychologist. The first example was in December 2021, and in January 2022 it was Spurs management.
“Instead of acting on Dr. Kath’s reports, the company ignored her complaint in the hope that the company could cover up Prime’s actions,” the suit states. “
On Friday, the Spurs released the 19-year-old Primo without mentioning what prompted the move. Primo said he retired from basketball to protect his mental health. According to ESPN, the release stemmed from several incidents of him exposing himself to women. The move comes just weeks after the Spurs made their team selection.
“Josh Primo’s behavior is outside the normal and acceptable boundaries,” Boothby said in a press conference Thursday morning, “and I would also say the Spurs’ behavior, the way they handled this behavior, is absolutely disgusting.” Unreasonable.
Josh Primo’s defense
Primo’s attorney, William J. Briggs, represented his client.
The statement reads: “In her client’s allegations against Dr. Cawthon, Josh Primo falsely claimed that he exposed himself to her during multiple treatment sessions. “Neither of Dr. Cawthon’s allegations are completely fabricated, a gross embellishment, or a complete hoax. Primo does not intend to expose himself,” the statement added.

In addition to the incident with Cowton, Primo has been charged with exposing himself in two recent incidents. An incident occurred in Nevada while playing in summer league. Another example took place in Minnesota. Primo cleared free agency after his release and is currently a free agent.
