The Brooklyn Nets have not started the season well. Not only is the team 2-6, but yesterday the Nets fired head coach Steve Nash in Brooklyn from 2021-23 and just seven games into this season.
It happened suddenly, but many thought it would happen eventually, and even players like Kevin Durant called for the head coach to be fired during the season. That’s why Durant said he was “shocked” when he found out. Durant said he turned on the TV when he woke up from a pregame nap and found out his coaches were shooting.
After Nash’s shot, Brooklyn (+1600) has odds to win the Finals according to NBA betting sites.

Nets superstar Kevin Durant was “shocked” by Nash’s firing
Nash and the Nets agreed to part ways after a disappointing start to the season. Durant spoke to the media about his former head coach.
“You’re always shocked when a move like this is made”… “We didn’t have a healthy team. It just didn’t pay well. That’s what happened with Ligam. It’s bad. So that doesn’t take away from Steve’s basketball IQ, how he teaches the game. I don’t think this takes away from anything. It just didn’t work out.” – Kevin Durant.
Drama is always around the nets and Nash’s firing is just another day in Brooklyn. The 2021-22 season was a disaster. Kevin Durant, Keyer, Irving and James Harden played a total of 16 games in Brooklyn. Steve Nash told Nets GM Sean Marks, “They’re not responding to me,” and clearly it was time for both sides to move on.
Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, the front-runner for the Nets head coaching job, has been suspended. He will not be banned by the league. Only the Celtics have already said they will let Udoka leave for another job. Expect Brooklyn to have a new head coach soon.
