While Mayweather has been fighting in exhibition bouts for some time, he has given no indication that he will return to the professional ranks – and let’s be honest, with good reason. Like Pacquiao, Mayweather is now in his forties, well past the fighter’s prime years. Pacquiao, however, is unhappy with his loss to Mayweather seven years ago and longs for a second fight. However, Pacquiao revealed something else significant in FightHype Interview – He’s willing (or excited?) to face current welterweight kingpins Terence Crawford and Errol Spence.
“I can fight Crawford or Spence,” he said. “I’m excited to fight them to challenge them if they’re really champions.” With negotiations for the Crawford-Spence megabout this past fall, none of the welterweight title rosters currently appear to have a big-name opponent on the horizon (unless you count Keith Thurman), though few would give Pacquiao a chance against either man at this point. time. Pacquiao certainly looks confident in the interview FightHype. “I’ve been retired for over a year and I’m still here,” he said.
