SHIGA, Japan — Japan’s Momoko Yuda shot a 4-under 68 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead after three rounds of the Toto Classic. Ueda took a one-shot lead after the second round.
Yuda, who had a three-round total of 14-under 202, shot her best round of 65 of the day to move one shot ahead of Gemma Driberg. Thailand’s Pornanong Fatim had a 65 but was far away at Seta Golf Course in western Japan.
Ueda won this tournament in 2007 and 2011.
Japan’s Miu Yamashita shot 69 and was two shots behind. The field is tied for a five-shot lead with nine other players tied.
“I wasn’t comfortable with my swing rhythm and putting this week,” Yuda said. “Having a good rhythm will be the key for tomorrow.”
Driberg is playing in Japan for only her second time and will look for her first LPGA Tour win on Sunday.
“I’m hitting it well,” said the Scottish player. “Hit a little closer than usual, which always helps. I think I hit a couple feet today, really nice and easy. Stress free.”
Dreberg was asked how she approaches the final round.
“Stay positive and do the same thing as you did today. Try to get one shot – as they say.”
