Lewis Hamilton has high hopes for a Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt.
The Hollywood actor will be at the United States Grand Prix this weekend with director Joseph Kosinski. The latter recently worked on the hit Top Gun: Maverick with Jerry Bruckheimer, who is also involved in the project.
Apple’s Tim Cook, who is distributing the film Hamilton, will also be at the track this weekend. The seven-time champion said he was “incredibly excited” about the project.
“What we’ve been able to put together so far, team-wise, is pretty amazing,” he said. “I met Tim Cook here at the weekend, it’s an honor to have him with us. He and his team were very supportive of my documentary and greenlighting this film.
And then Brad – the legendary one. You have Jerry, the first incredible legend of Top Gun. And Joe is such a great talent.
Hamilton is setting a high pitch for the film. “I’m really excited. I have high hopes for that.
“Visually, I know we’re going to make one of the best racing movies ever and we’re going to make sure it tugs at the heartstrings of all those fans.”

F1 teams met with the key people behind the film this weekend. McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl’s first impression was encouraging.
“They presented the project and obviously it looks very, very interesting and exciting,” he said. “A bit of top-gun style for Formula 1 would be good for the fans, for the sport, and for us as the participating teams.
“I’m looking forward to seeing this project, first, when it happens to us next year and then to see the movie.”
Alfa Romeo’s Frédéric Vasseur believes it has the potential to transform the sport’s popularity in the same way he did with the Survive Drive. “It could be a big step for F1 as a whole, as Netflix did a few years ago,” he said.
“They were particularly impressed with the technology they showed us,” Guenter Steiner, principal of the Haas Group, said during the meeting. “They used it to make Maverick, I didn’t know that existed. So I think they are the best out there at the moment to do this kind of thing.
“As Fred said, it’s the best for Formula 1. It’s great to do things like this with human standards, and I think there are no negatives, only positives.
