Pinehurst Resort, already home to nine top-quality 18-hole golf courses, is adding 10.
The North Carolina resort, which has hosted the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, PGA Championship and Ryder Cup, announced Wednesday that it will build an additional golf course that will open when the U.S. Open returns in 2024. Doak, who has designed courses such as Pacific Dunes in Oregon and Ballinell in Colorado, will be the lead architect for the new course.

“The site is topographically different and very different from anywhere else in Pennhurst,” says Doc. “It’s bigger, bolder and more dramatic. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience for golfers.” pic.twitter.com/cWbS9K25bM

Number 10 is approximately four miles from the main clubhouse at Pinehurst.
“The site is topographically distinct and very different from anywhere else in Pinehurst,” Doc said in a statement posted on Pinehurst’s website.
“It’s bigger, bolder and more dramatic. There’s about a 75-foot elevation change, and we’re going to get to it in the middle of the layout. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience for golfers.”
