Former super middleweight world titleholder Caleb Plant felt he had a lot to prove Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. First, in , he had no bite to support his shell. These were two people who didn’t love each other easily and weren’t afraid to tell the world exactly what they felt.
Let the plant know its bad intentions right off the bat as it goes to the man with the ringing of the bell. But after that, the plant fought back smartly. Dirrell was brutal throughout the season, no doubt, but Plant managed to keep his cool by engaging in a clever strategy that kept Dirrell out of harm’s way while landing his own shots effectively. Dirrell kept things moving with a strong fight, but it wasn’t enough. In the second half of the fight, it was clear that the plant was in good shape to win the decision. But it turns out the plant has other plans.
He had Dirrell down and completely out in the ninth for the absolute grind left from the Tennessean. The referee didn’t even bother counting Dirrell because he didn’t have to. At that time, it was very important for doctors to see the stretched Direll. As for the plant, he celebrated in an indecent manner, pretending to be digging dirt in a grave. It was the release of material of the year, but fighters don’t always have to leave the idea of sportsmanship behind. The plant has already proved the point. Still, boxing is a physical, and taxing, sport, something that was in clear evidence Saturday night in Brooklyn.
