Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden got on the scoresheet for England against Wales as Gareth Southgate’s side secured top spot in their World Cup group.
The Three Lions were on top in the first half but Wales held firm as the game was goalless at the break.
England turned on the style after the break. Rashford opened the scoring in the second half via a thunderous free-kick.
It took Southgate’s side only two minutes to double their lead. Foden converted from close range following a precise assist from Harry Kane.
They added to Wales’ woes with around twenty minutes to go. A ball over the top from Kalvin Phillips freed Rashford. The Man Utd attacker dribbled into the penalty area before his strike could not be left out by Danny Ward.
This win is enough to see England top Group B with seven points. Wales meanwhile exit the competition after finishing bottom of the group with just one point.
England’s focus will not switch to this Saturday as they will face Senegal in the last-16 stage of the World Cup. The African side were runners-up in Group A behind the Netherlands.
