“I’m not worried about the check and all that,” Regis Prograis said on social media Tuesday afternoon. “This will all be good.” Prograce, who defeated Jose Zepedan for the WBC Junior Lightweight title last weekend, tweeted earlier in the day that the fight was under scrutiny. Speaking online, however, the hard-hitting fighter seemed confident that all issues had been resolved and that he would get his due.
With that in mind, ProGrays had some harsh things to say about Teofimo Lopez, who said nothing about him. “I will really hurt Theophimon,” he said. “I hate Theophimon like a bad thing.” Although both men are known for their punching power, Progres made it clear in a short video that he is bloodthirsty in the ring.
“When I fight, I don’t box. When I argue, I’m not trying to go to a resolution with you. I’m trying to hurt you brother,” said Prograce. “My idols are people who try to hurt their opponents: Mike Tyson, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hager, Tommy Hearns, Sonny Liston, Harry Armstrong, George Foreman. That’s what I really look up to,” he said.
Progres added that he has no bad blood against Lopez. “Theo Rand and I were in the same room together, but I really feel like I could hurt him… that he’s going to the hospital. He then stated that he understands that Lopez will be promoting his December 10th fight with Sandor Martin. “I think you’re going to win that fight,” Prograce told Lopex directly. “It’s definitely a good challenge for you.” Still, Progres added, “there are steps in it.” He clearly doesn’t see the colorful Lopez on his level.
