Krzysztof Glowaki entered the ring for the 36th time on Saturday night in Manchester, England. 36-year-old fighter “Midnight Train” Richard Riakpore was aboard the scheduled 12-round cruiserweight affair. The bout was co-headlining the Chris Eubank Jr – Liam Smith card, which aired live on DAZN right here in the States.
20-3 Glawaki tried to put pressure on 15-0 Riakporhe in the opening round. The 33-year-old Riakpore, however, was patient with former world titleholder Glawaki. The first half of the second saw Riakpore keep Glowaki off the coast courtesy of footwork and long jabs. Glowacki was held back for good in the second half of the season, although he quickly recovered.
Both fighters were cautious in the third. It wasn’t action-packed, but everyone was looking for a chance to rest effectively. Riakporhe got that chance in the fourth. A left followed by a right on the floor that rocked Glawaki and sent him into the ropes. Riakpore moved and did what he had to do. Referee Howard Foster wisely stepped in and stopped the fight.
