Rob Williams He has no regrets after playing through the 2022 NBA Finals with a sprained knee that forced him to undergo a second knee surgery that will sideline him for the next 4-6 weeks.
Williams first suffered the injury in March, which forced him to miss the remainder of the regular season while recovering from knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. Williams was cleared to play in April but missed several games as he pushed himself to play deeper into Boston’s run to the playoffs.
Regardless, Williams said he has “certainty” in his decision to return.
“Hell nah, I’m sure I’m strong,” Williams said when asked about coming back for the finals. “I played in the finals – you win some, you lose some, but I don’t regret my decision at all. I was a 24-year-old boy with a dream of playing in the finals, I can’t regret it this bad.

When asked about his mental health and future concerns about his knee coming back from surgery for the second time, Williams said the injury has taken a toll on him.
“Some recurring problems,” Williams said. “Of course, it took a weapon on my mind. I wanted to be there, but now I want to focus on this rehab and just get back on the court; That’s why I’m ready.
“Mentally (Monday) is one of the better days,” Williams continued. “The process of rebuilding my faith in this team, the process that I went through with them twice, I’m feeling good today. Seeing all the guys together and stuff, coming back, but you know it’s a fight, it’s tough, but I’m here. Like I said, I’m ready to get back on the court.
“Obviously some recurring problems. It’s damaged my brain.”
