The LA Lakers are off to an 0-4 start and will have a tough matchup against the Timberwolves. Russell Westbrook has drawn a lot of attention since last season for his inconsistent play.
Westbrook was once the MVP of the league and now he’s not averaging 10 points per game. He was once considered one of the top PGs in the NBA not too long ago and hasn’t been the same since.
As a two-time scoring champion, Westbrook can be even more effective for the team. He will be 34 next month and maybe father time is finally catching up with him.
Westbrook coming off the bench is the Lakers’ plan for the future, sources told ESPN. You’ll see how it goes tonight – barring Anthony Davis from sitting with his back. https://t.co/vmTiQQTsKu

Lakers PG Russell Westbrook is expected to come off the bench for the foreseeable future
The Lakers are expected to bring PG Russell Westbrook off the bench tonight against Minnesota. He is a nine-time All-Star who started 98 percent of his games as a 15-year-old. It may seem disrespectful to have a player of their own not to be a starter, but it’s the right move for them.
Their first-year head coach is trying to do what he can to keep the team’s offense going as the starters leave. Bench players are what separate the good from the great teams. The bottom line is left behind when their secondary lacks any offensive production and coaches are forced to play starters in extra minutes to try and save games.
If Anthony Davis is unable to play, Westbrook may have one last chance to become the starter tonight. Davis participated in the team’s shootaround today but will be a game-time decision for the Lakers. Juan Toscano-Anderson has been ruled out for tonight’s game. Leaving Westbrook off the bench for the foreseeable future is a tough decision for Lakers head coach Darwin Hamm.
