Andreas Siedl has stepped down as CEO of the McLaren Group to become the new CEO of the Sauber Group.
McLaren has promoted Andrea Stella to chief racing officer in Seidel’s position.

Seidl’s new role at Sauber comes after team principal Frédéric Vasser was hired by Ferrari to replace Mattia Binotto. Sauber is the operating company behind Alfa Romeo’s F1 entry, and now Vasseur is looking for a new team principal, as that’s one of the roles he fills in addition to Sauber’s managing director and CEO.
Sauber will continue to compete as Alfa Romeo in the final season of 2023. In 2026, it will become the Audi Works Group.

Sauber’s appointment was praised by Audi. “We welcome the choice of our future partner,” said Oliver Hoffmann, Audi’s Chief Technical Officer. “Andres Seid has extensive experience in leadership roles in both manufacturer and Formula 1 team motorsport programs. His motorsport experience is impressive.
McLaren Racing CEO Zach Brown has hired Seidl to reorganize the team following a failed 2018 campaign. Under his leadership, in 2020, it rose to the third place in terms of construction.
The team has slipped back in recent times following the switch from Renault to Mercedes engines. However, he ended a nine-year winless run with a one-two at the 2021 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. McLaren is fifth in the points table this year, and has only scored one podium all season.

McLaren has a vacancy as director of competition as Stella moves on to become team principal. In the year He is a former Ferrari man who joined McLaren in 2015 as head of race operations, then performance director in 2018 and chief racing officer a year later. He will immediately move to the main position of the team.
