Undefeated Stefan Shaw headlines the ESPN and ESPN+ card this evening against 16-1 Efe Ajagba at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds in the heavyweight division. This is perhaps the most surprising first-year throwdown between two fighting fans in recent memory. Shaw, who started his career in 2013, has stopped 13 of his 18 opponents by distance. Ajagba, on the other hand, is looking to continue his career despite the decision of Frank Sanchez in 2021.
Shaw saw action last November in an 8-round unanimous decision win over Redel Booker. Ajagba himself last fought in August when he stopped Joseph Darmos in 2 rounds. This was not particularly surprising, as Ajagba beat all but three of his losing opponents in the distance. The man has power – that means any fight is interesting. It will also be in action Saturday when 10-0-1 Guido Vianello takes on 15-6-1 Jonathan Rice in a scheduled 10-round heavyweight bout.
