Last week, the Brooklyn Nets fired head coach Steve Nash after a 2-5 start to the season. On top of that, star SG Kyrie Irving has been the talk of the NBA. He reposted a movie/book with anti-Semitic language and received a lot of criticism. The Nets suspended Irving for five games without pay. Today, the Nets were able to share a bit of good news with their fans.
When Nash was fired and coached the same night, Brooklyn named Jacques Vaughn as interim coach. The Nets announced today that they have hired Vaughn as their new permanent head coach moving forward. Vaughan has been with the team since the 2016-17 season, paying his dues for the position. He knows the system, the players and the coaching staff and was a smart hire in Brooklyn.

The Nets have named Jacques Vaughn as their new head coach
Nets owner Joe Chee has been hurt by a female member of the NBA and the Nets organization. The Nets were reportedly looking to hire Ime Udoka as their next head coach. Udoka was suspended by Boston this season for violating the team’s code of conduct.
Coaching the nets this season, Vaughan went 2-2 with the team. Nets GM Sean Marks spoke about Vaughn’s hiring.
“Jack’s basketball skills, competitiveness, and intimate knowledge of our team and organization make him the clearest person to lead the team going forward.”…an integrated, team-first style of basketball. – Nets GM Sean Marks
Vaughn was an assistant coach with the Nets for eight seasons and eventually got his chance to become a head coach in the NBA. The Nets have been in some deep contention this season, so he has a tough job on his hands. We’ll see how Vonn handles the bright lights of being a head coach in the Big Apple.
