“Let’s go! Ready to work!” WBC and world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury shouted after Thursday’s press conference to promote his title fight with longtime rival Derrick Chisora. “I can’t wait for Saturday night.” It will be Fury’s first fight.Although some hoped Fury would fight former titlist and Englishman Anthony Joshua on Saturday, negotiations for that fight fell through, giving Chisora a chance to finally defeat Fury, having lost twice to the man.
And, talking iFLTV, Anger was quick to defend Chisora as a worthy opponent. “The guy’s a top ten fighter in the world, and he was an available opponent,” he said of Chisora. I don’t know about grace. If anything, it’s doing me a favor.” Indeed, Fury has made it clear that he feels he is a difficult person to criticize. “What are you talking about?” he asked rhetorically. “Nobody can hurt me, right? I came back from 28 stones, fought, fought, fought, fought back against all odds to make the ring home again. What are you going to say?
Fury then spoke angrily about WBO, IBF and WBA heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk when asked what he would do if the Ukrainian was in London on Saturday. “I couldn’t do anything about that little fly in the middle,” he said. “If he gets in my face on Saturday night, I’ll punch him in the face. We’ll see if he’s game or not.” With the Chisora fight just two days away, Fury is clearly in a fighting mood. “We’ll see how game these little aliens are when they take on the gypsy king,” he said.
When asked what his priorities were, Fury was quick to respond. “The priority is to get drunk and have a good time at Christmas,” he said. “We will reassess the situation by putting on five or five stone. I might need surgery.” Fury ended the conversation with a doozy in a short interview full of off-color balls. “We’re going to throw it Saturday night,” he said. “If you want to tune in, check it out. For those in the US, Fury-Chisora will be broadcast live on ESPN+ starting at 1PM ET on Saturday.
